I love being a Celebrant and I'm passionate about creating the perfect ceremony that's just what YOU always wanted but didn't know how to get.

I love everything about weddings, I love a gorgeous dress and killer heels, although thinking about it, a gorgeous dress, leather jacket and Doc Martens works too; a luscious waistcoat and a sharp suit, beautiful bridesmaids and cute flower girls and page boys, flowers and candles - lots of those, and ceremonies that are kind of traditional, kind of quirky. 


A Celebrant led ceremony is a perfect choice for you if you would love your day to be uniquely yours, without either the restrictions of a standard Church service or the identikit scripts provided by the Registrars.


The heart of your wedding day, and what makes it a wedding and not just a great party, is your ceremony, and it doesn't have to be boring or stuffy and definitely not something to endure before the fun. It can be as traditional or quirky as you want, so together let's make your ceremony happy, fun, beautiful, meaningful and so totally amazing that the two of you and your family and friends will treasure it and talk about it for years.


 Created with your story at it's heart, your ceremony will be full of special moments, laughter and love.

 

 It can be simple, traditional, themed or over the top epic.

You can choose your perfect location, be it a woodland glade, a beach, on a boat, in a marquee, in a field or barn, in the grounds of a country house, inside that country house or in your own home or garden.  The possibilities are endless, let your imagination free.


You can choose the time of day, you can involve your children, include your family pets and write your own vows, choose to include your favourite music and readings, a prayer, blessing, or poems, and you can include extra rituals such as a hand fasting or a sand ceremony as well as the traditional exchanging of rings.


We will spend time getting to know each other, and you can tell me your plans and ideas for your special day so that I can create your amazing, unique ceremony.


Is a Celebrant led ceremony legal?


Not currently, although as I write, that is under review by the Law Commission. 

 

The legal part can be as simple as a no-frills marriage at the Register office, known as a 2+2.  It's  just the two of you plus your two witnesses and the Registrars. 


 It will take place in their office and involves you both making a declaration that you are free to marry and a contract of marriage with each other, when you say "I will", and then you all sign the marriage schedule. 

You can do this any time before or after your wedding ceremony.


Your wedding ceremony can then be the ceremony of your dream.  You can invite your family and friends to wherever you want your ceremony to be and this is where you can say your vows, exchange rings and include everything else that you want to include to make it yours.

So how does it all work?

I’ve made the process as easy as possible for you both, and it works like this.  Find, enquire, Zoom, sign, pay deposit, Zoom again, pay balance, rehearsal and wedding day.


Find.

   I could be referred by another wedding supplier or a friend, you may have found my listing in a directory, or you may have seen this website or my posts on Facebook or Instagram.


 Enquire.

   You like what you’ve heard, read or seen and make an enquiry through a contact form, by email or by phone and we set a date for a face to face meeting or a Zoom call.  I set it up and send you the link.


Zoom meeting.

   We have a lovely getting to know each other chat, you can tell me all about your plans and ideas for your day and ask me any question you have about how I can help you create your special day just the way you want it to be.


 Sign.

  If you are happy with everything we have discussed and you feel that I would be a brilliant Celebrant to work with, first I’ll do my happy dance and then put together a quote.  I’ll send this together with a contract.  Once you have read them both, are happy with them and signed the contract you need to return it to me together with…


Pay.

...Your deposit to secure the date, this means I can start work.  I will send you a wedding questionnaire to fill in which will give me all the information about your ceremony that you know at that time.  I will prepare a draft script ready for the next zoom call.


Rehearsal or Zoom.

  This is for us to go through your ceremony script, filling in any blanks and making sure I have everything straight and how you want it for your ceremony.  it's also to make sure you and your wedding party know when, and what they will be doing, and where they have to go to do it. No terrified, haven't got a clue looks from anyone.


Pay balance.

  After I have received your final payment I’ll complete your script and send you a copy if you want me to.  All of my couples want to have the surprise on the wedding day along with their guests. But, if you choose to see it you can check it through and make sure it’s how you want it.

Rehearsal.

  I really recommend you have a rehearsal, ideally the afternoon/early evening before the big day for as many of your wedding party as possible.  I’m not going to reveal the script, but it is the chance to make sure everyone knows what they have to do, where they have to go and when they have to do it.  It’s my chance to make sure the room has been or will be set up as you want it to be and that all the equipment works.  You will all be able to relax, especially the two of you, knowing how the day is going to work and that it’s going to be absolutely fab-u-lous!


On your amazing, romantic and fun wedding day.

I will be at your venue 1-2 hours before the ceremony start time, checking in with you both if you are there or when you arrive, checking the room, meeting the photographer to go through the script, meeting any other suppliers that are there and checking in with the venue.  

 

Your ceremony will begin when you are both ready, hopefully on time but if that slips a bit I’ll roll with it, I certainly won’t be clock watching because I’ve got another wedding to dash off to, because I don't.  I only accept one wedding on any day.  After the ceremony I can stay as long as you would like me to or head off straight away.  


In between all of those stages we can get in touch with emails and calls at any time.  Any questions, problems, extra information you’ve just thought about and want to include, an idea you want to bounce around or something you’re not sure about. I’m always happy to help.

Why choose a Celebrant?

  • Be free of rules. You can choose anywhere you like for your ceremony. Indoors, outdoors, beach, wood, castle, cliff top, lakeside, stately home, orchard, boat, tipi - the only limit is your imagination.
  • Be unique. Your ceremony will be written just for you, and will be your story, with your own vows, (I can help you with those if you like), and your choice of music, readings and rituals.
  • Be fun.  Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, but that doesn't mean your ceremony has to be a serious affair.  There will be plenty of opportunities for laughter in your day, and that starts with your ceremony.
  • Be exclusive. Unlike a minister or a registrar, I will only accept one booking per day, so I won't be rushing you or dashing off again immediately. I will be there at least an hour before the ceremony, and will stay as long as you need me to.
  • Be prepared. I will arrange a rehearsal run through for your wedding party so that there are no unforeseen problems or hiccups in the ceremony and everyone knows what they've got to do.  I usually like to do that the afternoon or evening of the day before, if possible.
