Funeral Services and Celebrations of Life

Sara Price Celebrant

Hello, my name is Sara Price and I am an award winning Celebrant living and working in Cornwall.  I would be honoured and privileged to write and deliver the funeral service for your loved one.

"Sara will guide you through the planning journey for your service with care and consideration and help alleviate any stress or worries you may have.

On the day, Sara's calm and professional approach will make everyone feel they are in safe hands."   JM

First of all, please accept my condolences for the loss of your loved one.

For some of you, this will be the very first funeral you have had to organise, and it can seem a daunting task, especially when you are feeling totally overwhelmed with grief, and having to also deal with all the necessary legal paperwork.

Organising this funeral will be the final thing you can do for your loved one, and as such it is absolutely vital for you and your family that you do everything you can to make it the send off you feel they deserve.  And whilst it may seem daunting, you will not have to do it alone.

You may of course prefer to choose to have your local vicar conduct the service, but if the deceased was not particularly religious or wanted something more personal than that, you have the option of choosing a Celebrant.  And by choosing a Celebrant to write and lead the service, that service will be a true reflection of your loved ones wishes and beliefs.

You can choose where you would like to hold the service, most probably in a crematorium, but you may prefer to be at the graveside, outside in woodland, on the beach or a boat, at a green burial site or a place which holds special significance for you.

You can also choose exactly what you would like to include in the service.  This could follow a more standard format, or you can have poetry, readings,  music, a prayer or hymn, you can include your family members and close friends actively in the service, whatever you think your loved one would have wanted.

If you are reading this you are already doing some kind of online search for funeral celebrants, or your chosen Funeral Director or a friend has put my name forward and you are checking me out online.  That is the first major step taken care of and I would be honoured if you choose me to be your Celebrant.  If you have found me on your own, you will need to tell your Funeral Director that you would like me to be your Celebrant.

What happens next?

We need to meet, either face to face or virtually, so that we can talk about your loved one, and what they, and you, want to include in the service, and how you would like it to feel.  If you would like other family members or a friend with you for that meeting, that's absolutely fine.  Their memories will be different to yours and together they will help give me a fuller picture and feel for the deceased which can add an extra depth to the service.  This talk is not time limited, and it doesn't mean you can't talk to me again if you think of something else you would like to include.

Once I have all the information I need, I will write the service and a eulogy.  You may prefer a family member to write and deliver the eulogy, but if not I am able to do that for you.  I will also be in touch with your Funeral Director and we will work closely together to make sure you receive the very best professional service for your loved one.

I will send you a draft copy of the service to check I haven't made any mistakes, and to see whether you want to add anything to it.  Once you are happy with it, I will type up the final copy for the service.

On the day, I will be at your chosen location in plenty of time ahead of the service and be there to greet you and the family.  I will conduct the service, and am happy to do the whole service or stand aside for family or friends who you want to give readings, tributes or the eulogy.

Together, we can create a send off for your loved one that is a true reflection of them and their life, and that will celebrate their life and allow you and all those attending to say their goodbyes.

I would be honoured to write and deliver the funeral service for your loved one and can be contacted by pressing the Contact Sara button below or by phone on 01209 831430 or 07864 511225.

Funeral Planning

Planning a funeral for a loved one is one of the most difficult things to do, especially when the loss is so recent and the grief still so raw.

Today, in an effort to alleviate the extra stress at such an emotional time, more and more people are planning their own funerals, sometimes in great detail, sometimes just the selection of a reading and the music they would like. Even a small amount of planning will help those left behind.

The more that you can do to help your loved one as they are dealing with your loss, and dealing with the many, many things that they have to do, the easier you will make things for them.

I will meet with you at your home or a public venue, or virtually,  and talk through options and ideas for you to consider, and, when you are happy to proceed, I will create your own funeral plan.

If you need time to think about everything we have talked about, then I will be happy to arrange a second meeting with you.

I will give you a copy and retain a copy myself, so that when your loved one contacts me, I am able to visit them fully prepared.  We will discuss any changes or additions they would like to make until they are happy and I can prepare the final copy of the service.

You will need to ensure that your loved one knows where to find your copy of your funeral plan, and how to contact me.
